Anatomy of Tow Truck

From the ground up a modern tow truck is a masterpiece of mechanical and technological engineering

Big Tow Truck

Endowed with the brute power of a big-block gasoline or diesel engine, the average tow truck starts life as a 1-ton, dual axle, pick up truck chassis.

Adding a state-of-the-art hydraulics package, steel plating, an under-body stinger and large capacity hoisting arm, transforms a basic 1-ton into a $100K-plus, multi-purpose work horse.

Next, add the familiar red and white Abrams colours and this truck becomes a member of the Abrams family - ready to assist whenever and where ever it's needed.

That's one of Abram's regular tow trucks. At Abrams though, regular just isn't enough sometimes. Sometimes, it takes a 40-ton heavy truck wrecker to do the job.

Called a "wrecker" in many areas, these extreme, heavy duty tow trucks with three axles are capable of towing, lifting and carrying up to forty tons without even breathing heavy.

Mostly used to move big highway rigs, buses or equipment, our extreme capacity truck wreckers also fulfil a myriad of industrial and construction needs.

At an average cost well into six figures, our heavy duty truck wreckers need to stay on the road, working hard to earn their keep

Take a look at some of our equipment in action. Click on Abrams Services on the bar at the left then select heavy or recoveries and you'll get an idea how sophisticated these babies really are.
