Castles Cervený Kamen.

The most beautiful castle in the mountains Malé Karpaty, situated several tens of kilometres from the Capital Bratislava is one of the best preserved Slovak Castles Cervený Kamen. In the 16th century, it was rebuilt into a bulky fortified structure - then part of one of the top military-defensive systems in Europe.

Although the Fugger family built it in the first half of the 16th century on the site of an original royal castle from 13th century, its history is connected with the noble family of Pálfis. This important aristocratic family has gradually reconstructed the old castle into a stately residence with rich stucco ornamentation and frescos.

The Pálfis inhabited the Castle until 1945. The famous times of the Castle and scenes of its rich history are being now revived in time of Castle festival and knight tournaments including the show of falconers. An unusual atmosphere can be enjoyed during the summer night visits to the Castle.

Today the Castle shelters a museum with historical furniture, arms, the castle chapel and gallery with temporary expositions. The Renaissance sala terrena and its lavish ornamentation is also of interest. Visitors can see the ground cellars and unique renaissance fortification system of the castle.

Because of its medieval charm, the Castle has become the venue of shooting the fairy tale films like The Princes Fantagiró or Dragon Heart.

In the castle area you can find wine tavern, restaurant and café.

Access: driving as far as the castle, on foot from the village Castá or Píla.
