GREECE!
 Windsurfing
Windsurfing has conquered the seas. A true
delight in hot summer afternoons and sunny
mornings, and at the same time, a sport that
combines rhythm, colour, competition, the
elements of nature, a summer mood and passion,
and makes the adrenaline flow. Those who
do not own their own gear, may easily just
rent it in any organized beach throughout
Greece. Windsurfing lessons are given in
water sports schools by specialized trainers.
In the last years the sport is experiencing
a considerable development, evidenced by
the victory of the greek surfer Nikos Kaklamanakis
(gold medal) in the mens Mistral Class at
the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
The PBA, the world association of professional
windsurfers, organising the Windsurfing World
Championship has turned its attention towards
the greek islands since 1993, by organising
for the first time, in cooperation with greek
organisations, the yearly marathon race called
"Odyssey". Since then many races
with international participation have been
held mainly in the Kyklades and especially
in Paros, considered to be the paradise of
the surfers
